Many thanks to the Boston Metro for giving us a shout in their article on the best indie rock bands in Boston. We are always flattered by comparisons to REM + The Feelies. Y’all really know the way to a nerd rocker’s heart. And his brain’s pleasure center (through his extremely-thick prescription lenses).
Also, we are announcing our only set at this year’s CMJ! For those of you that don’t know, CMJ is kind of like a much smaller SXSW. It’s less obnoxious in the sense that there are way fewer people and slightly fewer branding opportunities. An industry event in the chill of autumn seems weird until you remember that it takes place in a city that smells like microwaved sewer runoff about four months out of the year. (We love you, New York!)
At any rate, we’re very excited that Jessi and Father/Daughter have asked us to play at a certified rager they’re throwing with Miscreant over at Silent Barn. Details are below and also on the Facebook. Probably even on Ello. Click here for advance tickets.
TOMORROW: Ben Shapes attempts to play a 42-song set at BU’s Pop-Up Music Fest 1-2:30pm on the lawn of 640 Mass Ave on 6-string banjo and guitar. What could possibly go wrong?

Here are some of us figuring out a new song to play TONIGHT. You should go to TT the Bear’s at 8:30 and see Littlefoot, IAN, Wakes, and us. We got new songs, a new plexi, a new bassist, and a need for speed (the rapidity of movement or action, not the drug —> sXe yunno)

More kind words about “86’d in ‘03” from Heartbreaking Bravery:
“From start to finish, not a single moment of the song’s two minutes are wasted. Full of nuance, verve, and, yes, self-awareness, it’s a clever bit of irreverence that feels like a perfect antidote to a ceaseless wave of increasingly apathetic music that’s gaining popularity and acclaim at an alarming rate.”

HEY: since "86’d in ‘03" debuted on Vanyaland a couple weeks back, a few folks have sent us some pretty thoughtful live and recorded reviews, Improper Bostonian did a feature that included an update on us, and Skatterbrain put us on a killer installment of their (his?) monthly mix w/ Terry Malts, Joanna Gruesome, Fleabite, and Literature! More clips and links are below.
Many thanks for listening + sharing with yr friends. Real talk: getting yr songs heard is tough w/o agents + PR and that stuff—getting on the big-name review sites usually takes money and/or connections (we done seen that shit play out). The fact that people like the new tracks + have been passing them around means a lot to us!

WE’VE GOT A NEW SINGLE COMING OUT IN A WEEK!
It’s a super-limited, double-sided picture plexi disc of new song “86’d in ‘03” b/w our cover of “Bridgeport Lathe.” The b-side tune was originally written and released in 1980 by criminally underrated Boston jittery pop group The 2x4s—check ‘em out.

Our only show this month! Should be a good time. It’ll be our new guitarist Luke’s 2nd show and Kate will be joining us again, this time on bass (Emeen is moving to LA and we are gonna miss him dearly).

If you wanna hear the intro to “Boys to Men,” and you don’t have a copy of our record yet, you can rent the indie comedy Awful Nice on iTunes or stream it on Netflix. It’s about 53 minutes in, but don’t skip the first part cos our boy Christopher Meloni is in this joint:
